Putting the "pieces" together in pop music

Today marks the 53rd anniversary of the tragic plane crash that took the lives of country music stars Patsy Cline, Lloyd "Cowboy" Copas, and Hawkshaw Hawkins, as well as Randy Hughes, who was Cline's manager, a musician in his own right, and pilot of the ill-fated plane. Although a veteran country performer, Cline's breakthrough hit was "I Fall to Pieces" (1961), which appeared at #2 on the Billboard year-end Hot 100 charts for the year 1961 and is the first song of the Billboard year-end Top 10 (1951-2015) to include the word pieces. Here I present a video of Cline's hit as well as the other nine songs from the collection (in chronological order) in which the word pieces occurs.

And to end this on a high note, a song that includes the word pieces (in its title no less) that only made it to #20 on Billboard's year-end Hot 100 (1975): the great Average White Band with "Pick Up the Pieces."
